History of the tomb of Khaja Rabi Mashhad


Khawaja Rabi, or originally Rabi bin Khathim Asadi Thori, who was also called Sheikh Rabi, was actually one of the companions and companions of the Prophet and Imam Ali (AS). He passed away in 63 AH. His tomb is one of the oldest tombs located in modern Mashhad.


This garden has seen various incidents throughout history, for example, in 1139, Nader Qoli Afshar, Fath Ali Khan, the ancestor of the Qajars, was killed in this garden and his body was also buried in this garden. This building was built by the order of Shah Abbas and Sheikh Bahai and by the hand of Sheikh Al-Agh. One of the interesting and attractive things about this tomb is that it is said that the Taj Mahal, which is one of the seven wonders of the world, was inspired by this building. Khawaja Rabi's tomb was registered as a historical and cultural heritage in 1310 with number 142.

Passing through the greenery and trees of the garden, we reach the tomb building, which has a turquoise dome and attracts the eyes of pilgrims from afar. The height of the dome from the ground is about 18 meters. All the porches and architectures of this building are derived from eastern architecture. The interior is also decorated with golden decorations and artistic masterpieces. There are palaces around the courtyard.


The beauty of this turquoise dome facing the sky is such that the sky has embraced it. The tiling of the porches and walls, which have matching colors, has made the pilgrims more relaxed. When you enter the building, just take a look at its tiled walls and dome to be mesmerized by its beauty and artistic details. This architectural masterpiece, which was built under the supervision of Sheikh Bahai, has several porches and an octagonal building. Inside the building, there are two inscriptions written by Safavid calligraphers. There is also an old cistern in front of the tomb.
