Gohar Shad Mosque is located in the south of Imam Reza (AS) shrine and has great architectural value due to its beautiful architecture and impressive decorations left from the Timurid period. Goharshad Mosque of Mashhad is a mosque built in the shrine of Imam Reza (AS). We all probably remember this mosque with a beautiful blue dome. This mosque was built during the Timurid period in 818 AH by the order of Shahrukh's wife, Goharshad, and hence it is known as Goharshad Mosque. This mosque is one of the most beautiful and magnificent mosques in Iran, which can even be called the most visited mosque in Iran.


 


Over time, due to various reasons, including the earthquake, some parts of this mosque were damaged, which were restored by architects and architectural masters with all elegance and precision. is This mosque is 2,783 square meters, and in its architecture we see 4 porches, which are built around the square courtyard of the mosque. In this beautiful mosque, we can see mosaic tiles, and Quranic verses and hadiths can be seen everywhere, and they have been artistically added to the architecture of this mosque. In two parts, the name of Goharshad Begum, the founder of Goharshad Mosque, is engraved with mosaic tiles. In the Goharshad Mosque of Mashhad, we see an inscription with a beautiful and magnificent script. This inscription is written by Baysanqar Mirza, the son of Gohar Shad, who was a master in calligraphy.


 


Goharshad Mosque has a very beautiful pulpit, which is called Sahib-ul-Zaman pulpit, and it was built by Muhammad Najjar in 1243 on the orders of Fath Ali Shah from walnut and pear trees. This mosque is one of the most popular sightseeing places in Mashhad.
